The Media Relations Team drives press coverage and elevates public awareness of the Institute's work, mission, and expertise. From report launches to major events, we help programs achieve their press goals while aligning earned media with the Institute's strategic plan.

For larger campaigns that require more support than our standard services, we offer premium options, allowing programs to scale their efforts as funding allows.

    • Supporting Announcements and Events:
      We edit, post, and distribute press releases and media advisories.

    • Identifying Journalists:
      We maintain and develop media lists to ensure your announcement reaches the right reporters.

    • 1-1 Outreach:
      We collaborate with programs to connect with the right reporters and engage directly with journalists to highlight your work, mission, and people. We can also guide programs on best practices for your own sustained outreach.

    • On-the-Ground Coordination:
      We manage press pools for on-the-record events and ensure reporters have everything they need, from network feeds to pull-aside interviews.

    • Media Training:
      We provide best practices for engaging with the press, including interviews, pitching, and more.

Whether you're based remotely or outside the DC offices, we manage press outreach and media engagement to ensure your initiatives receive the attention they deserve. We also offer virtual strategic planning sessions to align your communications goals with the Institute's mission.

  • For marquee events like Aspen Ideas: Health, Aspen Ideas: Festival, Aspen Ideas: Climate, and the Aspen Security Forum, we coordinate comprehensive press activities on-site, including media outreach and management and support for interviews, conferences, and briefings. Our goal is to ensure these signature events receive maximum media coverage and align with the Institute's strategic priorities.

  • For sustained earned media campaigns that may require intensive, ongoing press engagement, such as an issue-led campaign or a signature report launch, we can provide additional resources and develop detailed earned media strategies. Depending on the kind of support needed, this could entail working with specialized consultants, additional bandwidth from full-time team members, or oversight of a trusted PR firm.
